"So many places to see, so little time" Calor's Profile

She's got a ticket to ride

What can I say, I wouldn't be here if I didn't love to travel as most of you.

There is nothing I am more passionate about than learning about other cultures, traditions, peoples and oh the food!!

I have only 'scratched' the surface of my travels. There is so much for me to do and hope to be able to do it.

If I can go anywhere right now it's going to be China, the home of my maternal grandfather or perhaps Espana to see the land of my grandmother, but Austrailia, Venice, Austria, Maldives Island, French Polynesia, Rio de Janiero,..oh how I want to see you too!

Please check out my Domincan Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Boston, Toronto, Trinidad & Tobago and Montreal pages - all a work in progress!.

Hope you enjoy your visit! Bon Voyage!

Cathedral en Santo Domingo

This is a side view of the beautiful Cathedral in Santo Domingo.

Santo Domingo is filled with rich colonial archictecture many of which allow tourists inside.

Go Fish!

Fish! Fresh Fish:

In Tobago (the sister Island to big brother Trinidad), do stop off and purchase the freshest catch of the day from the friendly fishermen.

My friends in Tobago, purchased the "King Fish" and Shark and made a delightful dish called "oil down"..which is not what you think..it comprised a fresh "breadfruit" (something like a potato but big and round", fresh herbs, thyme, chives, garlic, hot peppers and fresh coconut milk all simmered down to make a delightful dish!

Food in Trinidad & Tobago is an absolute delight, infused with herbs and spices, it's enough to satisfy any person's taste.

I assure you will keep going back for seconds and thirds!

Ode to the Coconut!

Punta Cana, what a delightful place, long stretches of beautiful beaches, white sand, and tall, shady coconut trees swaying in the tropical breeze. How refreshing!

Ever wonder what is done with all the coconuts that fall on the beach? Well these boys sure knew what to do, with their faithful donkey and bag, the boys collect them and transport it to a truck waiting on the roadside.

They then take it to the market to be sold, what exactly is a coconut you ask?

Coconut water makes a wonderfully refreshing drink, it's best especially chilled and believe it or not it's used as a mixer in the Caribbean for alcoholic drinks, such as scotch, apparently it's quite "smooth tasting" I am told, personally I prefer it plain.

The inside of the coconuts contain white "meat" known as jelly, which is quite edible and tasty, especially when not too hard.

The outside part of the coconut or "husk" well there are so many uses for it, I won't go there, but the local people in the Caribbean make use of every single piece of a coconut.

When the coconut is totally "dried" up the inside part, the "jelly" turns hard, this is used for cooking and for making other products too many to mention.

Now that is living off the land and being evironmentally friendly!

Ready! Set! Action!!

Toronto is a great city in every way, it's multicultural and diverse.

This shot was taking off Queen Street and Broadview Avenue downtown on the set of a movie with Russell Crowe.

The entire strip was designed 60s style. I've had many people see major hollywood stars in Toronto!

Movie making is big business here and lots of fun!

Cuba Si!

This picture was taken in Varadero of a beautifully preserved monument..

Mercado en Santo Domingo

Another common street scene is the mercados en Santo Domingo, from 'pollo' (chicken), to naranja (orange) to 'pan' (bread)..you can find it all here in abundance
