Renessaince, Michelangelo, and the Medici...oh my!

I heart Flo.

2007 Update:

As usual, I did not allow enough time in my itinerary for my favorite city in Italy. Florence captures every one of my senses, and lingers throughout my journeys elsewhere...
"Duatmat"

"Study" Abroad

My junior year of college was spent living in Firenze and "studying" through Gonzaga-in-Florence. Into a rigorous schedule of Italian, nude drawing, fresco, and art history classes I fit in a little time to travel...More nights spent on trains and in sleeping bags than in my own bed on Via L. Alamanni.

I cannot say enough about Florence, or the Gonzaga program...this page does not have enough length. My only suggestion, for those who get the chance, is to live in Italy. Only by doing so can you truly experience all this country has to offer.

Memories...

Every time I visit, I long to be once again wandering around the city in a pack of 25 friends, drunkenly climbing over a bridge railing to sit on triangles, and playing beer games in one-star hotels with 2-litre bottles of red wine...

Every time I see a "sharkmouse" I reminisce about people who went night-swimming in the stinking Arno and lived to tell...

Piazzale Michelangelo; not "piazza Michelangelo". Ciao!

Good advice! Florence is the only place in the world where I have been pickpocketed (I am 43). Just as you say - by gypsy children. They will come up to you and distract you to steal your cash. [The police do not seem particularly interested].

LOL! Goes to show us that it's never a bad idea to ask for the price of a product/service before hand whenever you travel :)
