Sea Life - Snorkelling and Diving and other Jordan Things to Do Tips

As everyone knows, snorkelling and diving in the Red Sea is excellent. We spent a day snorkelling at the Royal Diving Club close to the Saudi border. The club is well run with facilities such as changing, showers, equipment hire and sunbeds and towels. There is a small snack bar selling burgers, sandwiches, fries etc at reasonalble princes. Adult admission costs 5JD for the day. Equipment hire is extra. The club has it's own shuttle bus which collects outside the main hotels around 9am and returns around 4pm. We decided to start a little later and arranged with our local agents (Jordan Circle Tours) to be picked up by taxi. This cost 5JD per taxi so was good value. The beach has it's own house reef accessed by a jetty and ladder. The coral is absolutely stunning. There is very little wear and tear and the colours are gorgeous. The Royal Diving club is currently (Feb 2003) going through renovation and building work to extend the pool and add accommodation. This work is due to end in April 2003 however this still did not detract from the enjoyment of the diving.
