In the center of the Olympic village of Lake Placid, NY is the lovely "Mirror Lake". You won't need a magic mirror to discern why the lake earned such a name.
Reflecting nicely on a lovely town and area, Mirror Lake deserves a few hours of your time for a leisurely walk around its shores.
Signs of and pride in Lake Placid's two-time hosting of the Olympic games are everywhere in the village. However, the Olympics are considered just another part of the area's rich and gentle history. They do not define or dominate Lake Placid.
- Pros:Peace, quiet, tranquility, class, rejuvenation
- Cons:I wish it were within a couple hours' drive of my house!

All i can say Pete is Wow!!Looks like you and your wife had a wonderful time.The mirror lake looks stunning.
What a vacation spot! Looks gorgeous. Makes me want to get up to New Hampshire again. Your hotel sounds like it was absolutely perfect.
Lake Placid is pretty--Mirror Lake is so picturesque. I think one would be pampered very nicely at the hotel you discovered there! THANKS for the visit!!

Right on! Lake Placid is definitely worth a visit, such a pleasant treat for the eyes! I think that I could quite easily get used to the Mirror Lake Inn as well!
Isn't this the Mirrow Lake Inn the most fabulous place!?! To this day when I smell woodsmoke I think of the Mirror Lake Inn!
