"The Palmer, Alaska Musk Ox Farm" Palmer by 850prc
Palmer Travel Guide: 21 reviews and 50 photos
One of the mosts-sought attractions in the area of Palmer, Alaska, is the Musk-Ox farm. This place offers a chance to learn about and get up close and personal with these virtually prehistoric animals.
And, you'll learn what Qvuit is..... It's the soft hair underneath the coarser outer hair on a musk ox. It is harvested and spun into extremely light and warm sweaters and the like.
The herd at the Palmer, AK musk-ox farm is active, vibrant and genetically diverse. The folks at this farm are doing an excellent job of preserving this rare arctic species.
- Pros:The Musk Ox farm was more interesting than I expected
- Cons:No cons.
- In a nutshell:The Musk-Ox farm is well worth the short drive up from Wasilla

Sweet reindeer babies!!! - Thank you for the birthday greetings. Doing ok, I guess, winter lasts way too long!!!
I went by the Musk Ox Farm, but there was so much smoke in the air from forest fires I didn't take the tour.
Glad to know ther is a place wher it is easy to gaze at musk ox !
hmmm, a nice little page on a peculiar tourist attraction that i discovered on 3rd leg of my trip to alska with u. perhaps u r letting ur pix speek on two tips :-)
There are a few musk oxes living in the Swedish mountains, close to Norway, but I have never seen one.
Great page so far. I'll be back
Waiting to see more Pete!
Did you get any Qiviut handknit goods, they are excellent in the winter.
Well now i know what a Qvuit is, not that i'll ever see them in Ireland! :)
