Waterfalls, waterfalls, and more waterfalls Almost everywhere in Iceland, there is rushing water. Most of it is right beside the road, for the free enjoyment of all.
If you'd like a sense of size perspective, that TINY blue spot, just right of the base of the falls is my wife Bonnie. : ) |
| | Move over old Faithful Iceland is literally a land built upon volcanic and seismic activity. There are numerous geysirs throughout the country, putting on an awesome and usually free show for all. |
Snaefellnes penisular, the rural Iceland IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE CLICK ON THE PICTURE TO ENLARGE IT. THE PHOTO IS ACTUALLY A PANORAMIC, AND THE EFFECT IS MUCH NICER. Enjoy.
When you get out onto the Snaefellness peninsular, you are getting into a much more rural part of Iceland. Most of the highways are at least partially gravel and the going can be slow. But the reward is the intense beauty and serenity of the area. In many ways, this area of the country is more intensely "Scandinavian", with it's lovely fjords and quaint fishing villages. | | | A small Lutheran chapel on the way to Hellisandur |
