    • Favorite Thing: Among the numerous streetside shops throughout Quito are quite a few that specialize in local-motif floor coverings and art. You can find decent quality and can negotiate reasonable prices, too. In addition to the street sales operations, there are numerous small shops as well.

    And, even if you don't buy, looking is fun for everyone....even the salesman.

    Fondest Memory: Praying that my wife didn't buy a rug that we really didn't need from the shop pictured in this tip. : )

    • Favorite Thing: Quito IS Ecuador's capital city, and as such there are many government sites and buildings of interest. The Presidential Palace is particularly impressive, replete with its ceremonial guards.
