Long Beach Washington Peninsula
Anchored on Washington’s southwestern-most coast, the Long Beach Peninsula is rich in tradition, raw beauty and award-winning lodging and dining establishments. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Columbia River and Willapa Bay, this favorite vacation destination is a refuge for migrating birds and people seeking the solace of a seaside retreat.
Celebrations are held each month and every summer weekend. Notable are the Washington State International Kite Festival, SandSations sand sculpture competition, the Northwest Garlic Festival, SummerFest and “Ocian in View”-a Lewis & Clark event held Veterans Day weekend.
I am just getting startedplease return for updated info...!!!
The Pacific County Friends of Lewis and Clark is a nonprofit organization devoted to commemorating the bicentennial of the epic journey of Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery, with special emphasis on the 18 days they spent in Pacific County, Washington.
Adventures include
Leadbetter Point, the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge, Fort Canby State Park, the Ilwaco Marina, and public beaches offer venues for kayaking, beach combing, bird watching, hiking, fishing charters, clam digging, horseback riding and kite flying. Strolling the Long Beach boardwalk is another favorite pastime.
The Port of Ilwaco can easily accommodate recreational boats from 12 feet to 125 feet. Moorage is available on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. There is a boat hoist for smaller vessels, or a boat ramp is available.
Our Pal Kismet just loves it when we visit the 'Long Beach'...there is plenty of 'private room to roam'....unlike the off-leash areas of most towns you and your pet can run & sniff & swim & still have new areas to check out!
BUT BE CAREFULL...people still use the ocean-beachfront to drive & usually are watching the surf...you should wear BRIGHT colors & be alert too!If you'r going for a long walk/run...bring some tap water for your pet to drink!!
Most of all, have fun.....let you dog be a dog again!!
See ya on the beach!
- Pros:A hidden gem,growing popular!!!
- Cons:traffic-traffic-Just take a bike or a local bus or walk the miles of beachfront
- In a nutshell:A fine destination for fun or relaxation
