I took this picture standing at the "Cais dos Guindais" / "Cais de Ribeira", which are located just north-east of the bridge. You can see the "Mostello da Serra do Pilar" in the background.

This is another view of that beautiful bridge. I took this shot, almost wetting my feet, from the southern bank of the Douro river, at the "Cais dos Barcos Rabelos" near the "Av. Diogo Leite".

There's a very narrow and very steep street leading down from the top of the bridge to its bottom. Due to the heavy rain and the rocky ground, it was extremely slippery. Involuntarily, I almost performed a triple axle jump with a faulty landing which caused a local young girl to laugh her behind off ... Proving great sportsmanship, I laughed back ... this time. There are lovely, small houses alongside that street, I sure would love to live there!

A view south from the lower level of the bridge. Up in the distance, you can see parts of the "Mostello da Serro do Pilar". The walkway is very narrow, so be careful and always walk on the side facing the traffic heading towards you ... (That's the way I survived walking the bridge. I just turned to take this picture after I had reached the northern end.)

Dom Luis I Bridge / 1 Bridges Review

The Dom Luis I Bridge is the main non-soccer attraction of Porto in my point of view. Whenever I saw a feature of Porto on TV, they had some shots of this bridge. I really like this masterpiece of architecture!
You will have a somewhat hard time taking a picture from this point - I had to go far out on a quite long and extremely narrow balcony of what seemed to be a private building to take this shot ... (Now you know why my friends and foes often call me a true hero!)
