Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: Well maintained and worth a visit

  • First of all: don't believe anybody who tells you that the palace is closed on the day that you're there. Usually it's a taxi driver who tries to persuade you to come with him. He'll probably take you around the city and drop you off at several shops where you almost feel obliged to buy things.

You can stroll around the palace for hours and enjoy the magnificent structures. The various gardens are extremely well maintained and very impressive.

You'll need at least two hours to see the most important sights of the palace. Make sure you get a copy of a map of the area at the entrance so you can easily navigate yourself around.
