Small and quiet “nest” in the Friesian countryside, where I have lived for some months. It really "stirs" up in the summer months, when one of the rare Friesian sports is staged here: Fierljeppen. It’s long-jump with a pole, across a stretch of water.
The "national" championships are always staged here in August

Ah, the delights of dyke-jumping! Can there be a more winsome way of wandering over waterways than the one in Winsum?
