We moved here in June 2002, and stayed for 2,5 years... not too bad to live in, though (too) quiet. It's sort of a "retirement reserve", especially for tourists - looks like the average age of visitors in most hotels is beyond 60...
But it has some nice touristy features, like the 2 windmills, one being the oldest (at least of this type) in the Netherlands. And unlike most of our flat country we have some hills and forests, main attractions for those coming here. It's an area loved by cyclists (mountainbikes) and "normal" cyclists from the region too, and they even stage cycle cross events - the World Championships have been staged here in late January 2006!
The oldest windmill may be recognised by some who know this part of the Netherlands or are interested in cycle cross, as it features many brochures and websites on the "Achterhoek" region. It's one of the oldest Dutch windmills, and one of the very few of the round "tower", stone-built "Don Quichote" style...
The second windmill is less spectacular, just 100 odd years old, and very close to where we used to live. Also the village is among those with a carnaval tradition, with a big parade with thousands of visitors, as we have experienced twice :-)
- Pros:"just" nice, great for walking, cycling; close to Germany and some big attractions
- Cons:nothing spectacular, not much "nightlife"(if you look for that!)
- In a nutshell:An (un) typical Dutch village with windmills!

What a nice place. I think "Don Quijote" would had enjoyed these windmills a lot. Greetings from Barcelona!
Hmmm! Wandering around windmills and taking tea or endangering myself in a spot of motorbike racing...it's a difficult choice! But not that difficult - pass the pancakes!!
Sounds like an ideal place to live.
You live on a beautiful town. I love windmills.... the Torenmolen looks just great ! Thanks.
Windmills look interesting. Surely Zeddam is worth a visit, even for those under 60 years of age ;)
