The Abava is a natural lowland river, flowing through a wonderfully forested valley, full of interesting sites and viewpoints.
Main gateway to the valley is Sabile, in Talsi district. som 70 km west of Riga.

Maraskambari caves

One of the points worth visiting are the Maraskambari sandstone caves, just outside Sabile on the Kuldiga road.

Seems to be a nice kayak trip. Unfortunately my camera finished to work in Edole.... I like the hidden tresaures of Kurzeme.

It appears that you share my passion for the outdoor life. A nice hike near a river or through a forest......always a great part of any trip in my opinion. Nice look at Sabile.
