"History of Kami-furano" Kami-furano by Fish_Fish

On April 12, 1897, a party of 8 pioneers led by Tsunejiro Tanaka of Mie prefecture came here buoyant with hopes fo developing. Since then, numerous painstaking efforts were made to start a village. 100th anniversary of the founding in 1997 has been celebrated. It's now an active and attractive town centering on agriculture as it's main industry. The population is about 13,000 with 5400 husehold.
