If your looking for a little quiet meditation time, or someplace to jog away from the exhaust fumes, visit the wetlands park. The Nature Preserve features two miles of concrete walking trails, graveled secondary trails, a bird viewing blind, and ponds. The trails are well marked, and the park is open from dawn till dusk. You will need a car to get here, but for the unique side of las vegas, its well worth an hour or two of your time.

Ethel M's Chocolate factory. A self guided walk through where you can get an idea of how your favorite chocolates are made. The gift shop has tons of stuff you'll want to bring back home, and they ship..... There is also a beautiful cactus garden to meander through. If your here during the holiday season, it' s decorated with tons of lights.

Hoover dam is on the border between NV and AZ. If you go to the line in the middle of the dam.......you can have one foot in each state. The tour is interesting if you are into history or engineering and takes approximately 30-45 minutes. There are many tour companies that run daily trips with pickups at most hotels. If you are going to drive yourself, go early in the day as the parking garage fills up quickly.

Mt. Charleston is the perfect side trip, especially if you visit during the summer. An alpine oasis just 50 mins from all the glitz and lights. Grab a picnic lunch, or do lunch at the Lodge at the top. A quiet escape from the bells and whistles.

Located just 3 hours N/NE of Las Vegas in Southern Utah. The drive is throught some beautiful countryside, and the destination is amazing. Zion National Park is a cool quiet oasis from the glam of Las Vegas. Springfield Ut is the small town just outside of the park where most of the accommodations are located. There is only one lodge inside the park. This makes a long day trip, try to spend at least 2 days here. You won't be disappointed. There are quite a few easy hikes that will take your breath away.
