I know that living on the outskirts of London i have a fair amount of beggars on my doorstep. However i was absolutely mortified to see the amount in Paris. Every street i walked down i encountered one or two. I dont really speak a word of French so didnt have a clue what they wanted. Luckily my boyfriend sorted it and they were after some change for a coffee. Be warned, if you stop and attempt to listen to them you will be there a while. While none of them tried to do anything suspicious it is still a fairly intimidating experience. Please dont let this put you off, just take precautions.
