All roads lead here - for me at least! | View from top of Capitoline |
After 6 trips to Rome, I am headed back in September for another trip. I can't seem to get enough of Italy.
Rome is - well - almost beyond description. But, for those of you who haven't experienced the intoxication of Rome, I will do my utmost to give you a feel for the place. The recipe for enjoying any destination is knowing what ingredients to mix together, and in what proportions, to get the flavor just right.
First, throw in the beautiful Italians, wonderful human beings who are fiercely loyal, independent, and at the same time, have huge room for accepting anyone who isn't Italian, but who clearly loves their country and their culture.
Throw in a good amount of infamous history: Roman armies, Roman roads, Roman generals, Roman theatrics, and Roman intrigue.
Add the climate, which is spectacular, even in the hottest months of July and August. There is nothing "mild" about Italy, so why should the weather be different? :-)
The architecture, the smiles, the food, the wine, the scenery, the pace of life, and the absolute assurance of a higher power, make Italy a wonder to behold.
Rome is an amazing labyrinth of winding streets, mad cap drivers, vespas, shouting vendors in open air markets, strolling lovers, and loud, laughing bambini everywhere!
This time (fall 2007) we are going to check out a new place outside of Rome, a park full of huge sculptures, called MONSTER PARK. Haven't ever been there, so it will be a new discovery for us!
Make it a point to visit this gorgeous city. It will change you forever! |
