Nearest province from the Jakarta, in fact Jakarta is surrounded by this province.
In year 2001 it became a smaller province as the west side of Jakarta becoming Banten province.
The province's capital is Bandung, a place where Jakartan people like to go on weekend for shopping and eating out. This city is famous for factory outlets and nice restaurants/cafes. Around the city there are some nice tea plantation, volcanoes and small lakes.
In other part of the province you can find some nice beaches, beautiful countryside and mountain resorts.
This area is also famous for local handicrafts (bamboo furnitures and housewares, batik, 'bordir') and traditional snacks.

West Java is the weekend getaway place for Jakartans considering the proximity to the Capital and also good transport/easy access.
Many Jakartans spend their weekend in the mountain resorts of Puncak and Bogor or do shopping spree in Bandung (the factory outlet town). For those who like a bit of adventure, white water rafting & trekking to the national park are the options. The beach lovers can go to Pelabuhan Ratu and Ujung Genteng.
