I'm living in a beautiful - big - country... Consists of more than 17,000 islands, more than 300 different tribes, cultures and languages.. so many beautiful beaches, magnificent volcanoes, beautiful villages, lush landscapes, tropical forests, beautiful people, good shopping...
There's only one way to find out.. just come and explore it yourself and see if you are agree with me :-)
Indonesia consists of more than 17,000 islands and only about 6,000 are populated. Thousands of small islands surrounded with beautiful white sandy beaches and beautiful coral reefs are awaiting you - heaven for you divers and snorkelers!
As an archipelago, Indonesia is blessed with plenty of beautiful beaches... white sandy beaches, tranquil beaches, good waves for surfing, warm water for swimming and other water sports, or just relaxing enjoying the sunset or sunrise.
Indonesia is located at the Pacific Rim - part of the volcano chain - the "ring of fire". That's why there are so many mountains and volcanoes in Indonesia. Some of them are still active and growing, some are already inactive or "asleep".
From these mountains you can enjoy beautiful view - some are really amazing! Some volcanoes although quite active can still be visited so then you can see the hot steaming crater - even boil some eggs in the boiling sulphuric water.
Some of the volcano eruptions in Indonesia had been recorded as biggest and most deadly eruption. If you heard of the biggest bang, then it was from Indonesia when the Krakatau off the coast of West Java erupted in 1883. There is also Tambora in the East Nusa Tenggara that its eruption affected the weather and caused the worst long winter in the world.
There are also some giant ancient volcano like the one in East Java (Bromo) where you can see a huge caldera (or ancient crater) with a stunning view.
Indonesia also has some big fresh water lakes that offer stunning view. Some of the lakes are actually part of ancient crater.
Apart from the stunning view, we can also do many activities in these lakes - swimming, fishing, canoeing, trekking, sailing or even just chilling out & relaxing on the shore.
For those of you who likes adventure and outdoor activities, Indonesia is a great place to do that.. plenty of rivers for white water rafting, national parks for camping and trekking, mountains to climb, lakes and oceans for fishing, beaches and beautiful reefs for snorkeling, diving and other water sports...
Indonesia is a home for tropical forests (although sadly disappearing quickly) and the rarest animals. Only in Indonesia you can find the giant Komodo dragon, few different species of Orangutan, the one-horn rhinocerous, the "paradise bird" Cendrawasih, tarsiers, the biggest flower Rafflesia arnoldi, the longest insects and many more. Researchers from WWF keep on finding new species from the heart of Borneo and Papua (in land and underwater).
