Fortresses and Temples

Kanhwa -do is an island off the west coast of South Korea very near the North Korean border.
The fortresses were originally built to defend against invasions from Japanese and Chinese. Most of the fortresses were destroyed during the Japanese occupation of South Korea but these have since been rebuilt.
