We really had a great time in Banos.

First because the altitude is less high and you can breath easily.

Second because the atmosphere is cool and friendly. Banos is sometimes referred as a "Gringo Land" (i.e. a city full of foreigns and, by extension, by tourists), which is true. However, you can meet locals rapidly and have fun with them. We met incredible people in Manos and had memorable parties.

Last but not least, Banos is a gorgeous little city with plenty of things to see and do: it's a good way to approach a magestic volcano and it offers hotsprings, horseback riding, trekking, rafting, climbing and mountain biking.

Banos also serves as a popular site for studying Spanish.
