    Getting TO/AROUND: Buses in Quito are cheap and easy to take. You can go around the city very easily without spending too much money.
    The only thing is the polution and the horrible sound they produce (like a monster's breathing).

     Y, not sure of Quito's altitude but what you did there knocked me flat on my arse when I was in Cusco (Peru). That altitude can be deceiving!
