To Fly or not to Fly? | I love antique and novelty shops! Helsinki shop |
"Nothing is impossible to a willing mind."--Books of Han Dynasty
We greatly enjoyed our visit to Europe this summer and was glad to meet VTers Nigelw6446 (Nigel and his family) and Bijou67 (Birgit) in Berlin, Germany. Very pleased indeed they could visit us where we stayed in Bad Saarow as well, and see beautiful Scharmützelsee.
We were also very fortunate and thankful that VTer ZenLady34 really helped us out with directions, bus numbers and friendly support when we were in Helsinki in June and July.
We had a very special summer trip, my daughter and I, as she reached the ceremonial age of 12, as she had a birthday in June and shared a truly momentous healing with our friends the Maoris who visited our friends in Bad Saarow where we stayed. To find out more about them and their trip to Europe, please visit there webpage at http://www.maorihealing-europe.com/.
Why to fly or not to fly? Although our flights with Finnair were among the best we've ever had, once we returned to the US, instead of the 1 flight necessary to get us home....it took us 12 flights and 48 hours of cancellations, layovers and unbelievably horrid service by Delta and its cohorts.
With recent international attention for multiple occasions of terrible service and decisions by airlines in the US, we hope the Department of Transportation aviation divisions really gets these busted "ships" in shape. My child still has nightmares after all that nonsense and refuses to fly any American/domestic airlines. I don't blame her, and we won't be supporting them. |

I continue to work as a private chef and consider opening a small restaurant, and am working towards completion of a Bachelor's of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourist. Also I am the current President of the Parents Committee for Native American Education in our local school system. I live mostly between the US and Berlin, Germany. I am a published writer, editor and photographer, and anything else that catches my interest.
>>I prefer to stay in hostels. I prefer walking to riding, planes over automobiles, and peace to arguments.
>>My dream destinations are Macchu Picchu, Japan, Northwest Canada, but the list is to long to name them all. I would go to the moon if they let me. And whenever anyone says "Hey let's go to ______!" I reply, "Warum nicht?" I might even go to Hell if it's going to be fun.

Traveling I strongly believe there is a common ground between those who love to travel, to whom travel is necessary, not just a leisure past-time. They don't all have the same personality (because that would be boring), they certainly don?t all look alike, act alike, or travel alike, but there is a common thread to connect them to others like themselves even if they never meet. Sites like these help, but I really enjoy meeting travel companions along the way. Have a look at my Berlin page and you will see some of the friends I have met, and soon I will add more faces and names.
