The awakening statue @ Hanes point

The begining

I arrived in DC around the 4th of Aug this year. The first 15 days having been the most hectic but were also the most memmorable. I was living then with my dads cousin in Ashburn. The daily trip ripped me off but was well worth the ride. On the way , no one would find it hard to notice the dicotomy of the area. It is one of the biggest "hi-tech" areas in the US , second only to Silicon Valley but you will still find deer crossing signs at the side of the road. On the very first day in DC , I started out with the Lincoln Memmorial. It was the first signs of american bias towards greek style of architecture. That weekend , while visiting the rest of the monuments and the various government deptartment buildings , it became apparent that Americans love greek & roman architecture starting with some famous presidents like Thomas Jefferson ( whose memmorial closely resembles the Pantheon in Rome ) who revered classical greek and roman architecture. Among other things to watch out for the amazing views offered from the Arlington National Cemetery , Ohio Drive, GeorgeTown waterfront. What I found really interesting was the Awakening Statue at Hanes point off Ohio Drive. The statue is an amazing piece of art where-in a bronze man is trying to free himself from the ground , with half his body inside. The location of the point is really awsome with the potomac on both sides and National airport visible across the river.
