THE DUGOUT: Seedy Bar

Nightlife Spot: THE DUGOUT
Ahh, The Dugout. A tiny, divy sports bar in the heart of BU's campus. There is a history attached to this bar and how it used to be halfway between Braves Field and Fenway Park, blah blah blah. Either way, this place steals my heart because they have Magic Hat on tap, and a dartboard in the back room. Whenever I go past it, there's a sign for homemade pizza at a certain time, and I've heard it's good, but I've never had it.

Nightlife Spot: Jake Ivory's
Incredible for just about anyone. Two pianos face off for 5 hours playing classic bar songs on request. It's pretty cheap (~$5) to get in and a lot of fun. I had to debate whether to put this in the Must See section. Really so much fun. Good for all sorts of crowds.

Pour House: Not so "Pour"

Nightlife Spot: The Pour House
Nothing too too great about the Pour House. This place is one of the bars on the Boylston St. strip which I find fall just short of being really fulfilling. Prices are a bit steep, it's always crowded and the music is loud. It has a 'purposely grungy' feel to it, with bathroom-esque paper towel dispensers at your table. The beer selection is weak, the nachos are ok if you're hungry, and make sure NOT to order a Guinness. Only in cans here. On the plus side, it's in a great location and there are tons of other bars to hit up if you don't like it. Ok for a couple drinks or a happy hour deal if you make it between 6-10pm. Sunday nights, they show movies downstairs for $2.50 cover.

I don't think you could PAY me to take one, lol! | moiraistyx Sat Sep 2, 2006 00:07 UTC Hello fellow BU alumnus, I agree about the BU buildings being ugly, but if it hadn't been for BU I wouldn't have fallen in love with this great city. | amapola66 Sat Feb 19, 2005 01:57 UTC Hey mrdarius - I know that bar from when I lived in MA :-) They also do a great cocktail. | diver-x Tue Sep 23, 2003 00:12 UTC They say you can swim the Charles north of Watertown now. However, I did get a rash after getting soaked while sailing one day last year... |
