After his Austerlitz victory in 1805, Napoléon had said to his soldiers: "You will return home through archs of triumph".
Ordered by Napoleon as a memorial to the Grand Army it was begun in 1806 and completed in 1836. It's 50 m high and 45 m wide. The bas reliefs-celebreted the victories of Napoleon while the shields sculpted on the atic bear the names of great battles.
The arch stands in the center of the Place De Gaulle (The Square of De Gaulle) which is at the end of the Champs-Elysees street. The Square is a circular area 120 meters in diameter, from which a total of twelve important avenues radiate out: Avenue des Champs-Elysees, Ave. de Friedland, Ave. Carnot, Ave. de la Grande Armee, Ave. Foch, Av. Victor Hugo, Ave. Kleber, Ave. d'lena and Ave. Marceau.

The "Place de la Concorde" is a magnificent square between the Champs Elysées and the Tuileries garden. In the middle of the square, the obelisk, 3200 years old, comes from the ruins of the temple at Luxor. It is 23 meters tall. Enjoy in beautiful fountains.

This is Obelisk from Luxor temple in Egypt. It is 23 meters high and is adorned with hieroglyphics of Pharaoh Rameses II. This one has gold on it but original in Luxor temple is just exactly like it was during a Rameses II. To be honest I like original much more.

In the center is this memorial July Column which is built between 1831 and 1840 in memory of Parisians killed in July 1830. Their bodies are in marble base. The memorial is 52m high and on the top is figure of Liberty. If you decide to go on top you will climb 238 steps. There is great view on the top.

When you are in Paris you should visit The Musée d'Orsay. At first this was a train station called the old Gare d'Orsay built by Victor Lalouxand for the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900. In 1939, after having received the first electric trains, the station was forced to close. In December 1986 it was reopened as the Impressionist Museum. It holds work of arts from 1848 through 1914. Here you can see some of the masterpieces like "Ball at the Moulin de la Galette" by Auguste Renoir, "Olympia" and "Dejeuner sur l'herbe" by Manet, "The Dancing Lesson" by Edgar Degas, "The Siesta" by Vincent Van Gogh...

The 'Basilique du Sacre Coeur' sits at the top of Montmartre. After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, it was proposed to construct a church to the Sacred Heart. Although originally the fund raising was by public subscription, in 1873, the National Assembly declared its construction to be a state undertaking. Of the 78 entries in the competition for its design, the one chosen was by the architect named Abadie. The first stone was laid in 1875 and completed in 1914 but it was not consecrated until 1919 after World War I had ended. The interior of the church contains one of the worlds largest mosaics. From the top of the church, there is a panoramic view in all directions.
