    • If the Russian language and customs give you pause to really immerse yourself in the wonders of St. Petersburg, then use a guide. I had the great fortune of meeting Viktoriya, who is a 23-year old licensed guide who speaks English fluently and has photographic memory which holds every detail of every detail of all the buildings and elements therein -- including the vast Hermitage. I originally hired her for a couple of hours in the Hermitage, but stretched it out to two 12-hour days visiting the big sites in St. Petersburg on one day and outside of St. Petersburg the next. I recommend her without hesitation and she can be reached at victory.nik@rambler.ru. A remarkably knowledgable and friendly human being.
