Charlie's Kitchen: The place where people DO know your name
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

  • Restaurant Name: Charlie's Kitchen

Got into Cambridge for the first time. I was tired, hungry and a bit irritable. I decided to eat in the first place I ran into. It was Charlies Kitchen. I walked into what I thought was a hole-in-the-wall greasy spoon place. Sat myself at a vinal booth and was treated to one of the friendliest meals of my life!
My waitress, Helen, was a kind older woman who treated me immediatly like a daughter. Told me the places to be careful of in town and gave me some great guy advice, all while serving up some of the best clam chowder I've had. And don't think I'm so special to deserve that treatment.
Everyone in the very small restaurant got the same smile and good nature from all the staff.

In the evening you can mingle w/ the huge college crowd upstairs, or stay w/ the locals downstairs where the bar is small but the atmosphere is wonderfully welcoming. Met so many great and diverse people in this teeny-tiny place.
Charlie's Kitchen is unpretentious, warm and is what all neighborhood diners try to be. Miss home? Charlie's will help brush the snow off your shoulders and welcome you like a long lost friend.

Favorite Dish: Clam chowder was AWESOME!!! Thick and not skimping on the clams. It's made in the the restaurant, just the thing to warm you up.

    Ambrosia On Huntington: Interesting Concept...

What an interesting idea! Combine the flavors of a French menu with some great Japanese flares.

Ambrosia is a beautiful spacious resturant with high ceilings, low lighting and tastfully chic decor. Dark woods, cream colors and the entire front allows a wonderful view of the street with it's floor-to-ceiling windows.

The food was excellent! The flavors popped! and each bite was packed with exotic taste that was kept grounded by the french overtones. The presentation was grand but fun.

The portions were slightly small for the amount of money spent .

As for the service, I believe we had a waiter, but after taking our order he disappeared for the remainder of the evening until it was time to drop off the bill. This was in a large resturant after peek hours when it wasn't even half-filled. We also had to flag down a busboy (who was really quite nice about it considering we weren't his table) to fill our drinks. From what I've heard this is normal.

Valet parking, smoking section, handicap accessible, bar, vegetarian entrees available.

Leave the jeans at home. This place is casual chic.

Make reservations it's going to be busy!

Mostly seems to be frequented by the wine snob crowd, but go with friends (make your own fun!!! )

    Legal Sea Foods: Barely Legal
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Legal Seafood

Skip Legal Seafood. Extreme amount of money for the inverse quality of the experience. I would say skip it and check out some of the more interesting places with character.

Once upon a time, Legal Seafood was a great underdog in the industry. Cutting out the middle man and handling things themselves, Legal WAS a "cut above the rest". But success was too good to Legal.

But do remember, if you don't go, you'll never get a chance to experience Legal Seafood again (unless you're in Virginia, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Mass, Maryland, Florida, or the District of Columbia)

Favorite Dish: Water, because I wasn't paying for it.
