"Crete" a Crete Island Travel Page by papajoeb

Crete was probably my favorite place on the whole trip. This island has got everything from ancient Minoan ruins to beautiful snow capped mountains to gorgeous sandy beaches and is home to the largest gorge in Europe (which is closed during the winter due to danger of flash floods, but the guy who guards the enterence is kind of fat and doesn't really have the energy to chase you if you just want to go for a short walk and take a peek.)

The island is covered with a mosaic of orange, lemon and olive groves and has two nice sized cities on it for the social butterflies. This place has everything! We spent New Year's Eve on Crete and if i had it to do over again, i think i would have reserved much more time for this island.
