Place of Memories

The Bang Pa-in Palace is the royal palace. Back to 19th century, King Prasart Thong(1629-1656) (who are frequently mentioned on my Ayutthaya page) ordered to built this palace. And Why this location ? It’s because this place is his mother’s hometown. King Prasart Thong is an illegitimate son of King Ekathotsarot (1605-1610) and ordinary woman. During King Ekathotsarot’s cruising along the river and his ship was sunk in that area. Lucky him, a very great woman helped him and this ordinary woman were become King Prasrt Thong’s mother.
The site fell in to ruin on King Narai period due to Burmese. The palace was revieved by King Rama IV of Chakri dynasty. And present buildings date from the reigns of king Rama IV and Rama V.

This place is the place of memories and place of love. Many buildings that were built by King Rama V are Memorial to the queen and Princess, also for other of his ladies.

Today the place is used occasionally by Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit for holding receptions and banquets.
