Ko MAk

If you want just relaxation , enjoying sunshine and crystal sea water ,outdoor activities, living with nature ,live simply in amazing surrounding, coconut trees by beaches likes in the other side of the world. I’d recommend u to Ko MAK .
But if you expect very beautiful beach ,and awesome view like Phi Phi or Surin island or Phuket. Please don’t expect as much at Ko Mak. I enjoyed this trip by the sea, snorkeling , swimming , exploring the island by walking along the shore (about 2-3 km). Each day gone by with fun, making friends with people eating and sleeping tight. I‘ve got tan ,sunburn and insect bites,,but really have great time there.

I wonder why there is a duplication of island's name in my country. My trip to this "Ko mak" is to the eastern region of Thiland not to the south. I must say that most people know about Ko Mak in the south in Andaman sea than this island i went to. So, when you ask most Thai people about this Ko Mak they will never even have heard of it !

A remote, lust-green island set in the Gulf of Thailand beyond Ko Chang , it is 3 hours by boat from Trat. Or 1.30 hours by speed boat. But still not far to Ko Kood.

On the left side,This is where my Ko Mak located on the map. How to travel ?? From Bangkok takes you 4.5 hours. Then you have to take a boat from pier that will take you another 3 hours. Total 7.5 hours to the nature :P

Alternatively, you can take speed boat that cost you more but save you 0.5 hours on boat. What is your choice. Mine,i have no rush.

Boat your choice:
1. From Kom laung pier to Ko Mak
by boat departing at 3 p.m. The one-way cost is B210 ,takes you 3 hours.

2. By fast boat from Laem Ngob pier at 9 a.m. every Friday and Saturday cost B300 one way. Takes you 2.30 hours.

3. Organized speed boat , You have to rent a boat , Oneway boat will cost you B4,500+ that you should form team to share. Also, you can ask from your resort for this service.

Sunset at Ko Mak.

This place have nice and beautiful scenery. There are lots of coconut trees on the island. You can walk along the coast to travel around island. Some of beach area are not quite nice because of the garbage and pollution. That makes me so sad.
If you expect great beach ,you have to choose the location of your resort, otherwise it's not such a great one. Some beaches are still really nice like one in my pic on this page. Anyway, it's great for relaxation and getting close to nature. "Live simply" can be describe the way you live here.

I turned off my cell phone for a whole 4 days. Living apart from technologies and all busy things boosts me up.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:peaceful , warm and nice breeze ,back to nature.
  • Cons:Dead coral , have to go very far to great snorkeling site
  • In a nutshell:Natural beautiful peaceful beach and live with nature.
