Donde nace el sol de la patria

by andal13 - last update: Jan 27, 2005

Where the sun of homeland is born

La Paloma
Rocha is the most eastern department of my country, so its coat of arms says "Here the sun of homeland is born". Wonderful wild beaches, several lagoons, palm groves, national parks, natural reservations, ancient fortresses, fishermen's villages, seadogs, endless countries... If you ask me for a place to spend my summer vacations, I choose Rocha. I spent several summers there, but unfortunately I never took my camera, except once, during a long weekend in springtime... So I have few pictures (and overexposed!!!) Some of the pictures you will see here, are taken from the Internet. Now that I am a VT member, I feel I must go again...

After the fire

January 2005

This has been a very dry and hot summer... Unfortunately, a forest fire devastated a huge area of Santa Teresa National Park. There were not human victims, but damages are incalculable.
(The picture was taken from the web)

Helpful tips as we are once again planning a trip to So.America. What a shame that you didn't bring your camera.

This looks like a very interesting coastline! Wonderful tips on some of the things that are possible. Who knows, maybe I'll make it there in February?!
