COUNTRY UNDER CONSTRUCTION ~ PAÍS EN CONSTRUCCIÓN

Uruguay is a small South American country; its name means "painted birds' river". Its capital is Montevideo, where I was born and live. Let me introduce you into my country...
Uruguay has an area of 176.000 km2, and a population of 3:300.000. Has no high mountains, but several hills, and beautiful beachs. Its main activities are agriculture, cows and sheeps brood, tourism and other services. Tha national sport is "fútbol" (soccer); we won the World Cup in 1930 and 1950, and it is said that each Uruguayan is a coach.
The country has an important cultural life, with some outstanding writers, painters, musicians and actors.
Uruguayan people like politics: I'm not wrong if I say politics is the second (or even first) national sport!!!

Sun, Sand and Sea ~ Sol, Arena y Mar

Uruguay has a lot of wonderful beaches... You can find the glamorous Punta del Este or small fishermen's towns like Punta del Diablo or Cabo Polonio. Even Montevideo has nice beaches, and very close to the capital is Costa de Oro (Golden Coast). There are also some river and lagoon beaches.

Open Museum ~ Museo Abierto

Uruguayan countryside is quite interesting: there are some ranchs, but there are some nice towns like San Gregorio de Polanco. This place is an open museum: some artists made their pictures on the private houses or public building walls!
