Salamanca is a very nice town in Castilla-León, well-known for its University and beautiful architecture. A peculiarity of Salamanca is its double cathedral: the old one, built between 12th and 13th centuries, is a wonderful Roman construction; the new one, of 16th century, is an awesome building with Gothic, Renaissence and Baroque elements.
I took this picture at the Roman bridge of river Tormes; from there, both cathedrals can be seen.
Salamanca es una preciosa ciudad de Castilla-León, célebre por su Universidad y por su espléndida arquitectura. Una particularidad de Salamanca es su doble catedral: la catedral vieja, construida entre los siglos XII y XIII, es una magnífica construcción de estilo románico; la nueva, del siglo XVI, es un impactante edificio con elempentos góticos, renacentistas y barrocos.

The 20th Century restorers of this 16th Century cathedral took some liberties when replacing the sculptures on the portal. That sculptures are not so ancient at all. ;-) | pepples46 Sun May 29, 2005 06:26 UTC

I'm from Salamanca the frog of the university have been always there but the spaceman it's obviously not original it is made for a restaurator |
