Getting TO/AROUND: I do not know if this is a Transportation Tip, a Local Custom Tip or a Must See Activity Tip... Get into a bus (here we call them "ómnibus") and go everywhere; on a half an hour trip, you will see all kind of persons getting into the bus: salesmen (they sell candies, lighters, pens, magazines, or what you want), singers and actors performing in exchange of some coins, and unfortunately, beggars (evern children asking for money).

Getting TO/AROUND: Taxi is a good and not very expensive way to go around Montevideo; the cars are easily recognizable (painted in black and yellow, with a light sign with the word "TAXI" on the top!!!) and you can get them at the street, at the "taxi stops" or call them by phone. The cars have taximeter, so you will pay what the machine registers. The costs are higher during the night and on weekends. As usual, the Montevidean taxi drivers are also psychologists, politicians, soccer coachs, meteorologists, so you can talk with them about a lot of points.

Getting TO/AROUND: You can come to Montevideo by plane; the Carrasco International Airport is not situated in Montevideo, but it is quite close; there are some international flight that arrives here directly , but most of them have connections with Buenos Aires (Argentina) or Sao Paulo (Brazil).

    Ferries/boat: Sailing

Getting TO/AROUND: There is a quick and nice way to come to Montevideo if you are in Buenos Aires: by ferry. Buqubus is the company that makes this trips, from port to port, in very comfortable ships. The same company has a cheaper service: from Buenos Aires to Colonia by ferry, and thern, from Colonia to Montevideo by bus.
