Tacuarembo is a small town situated in the middle of a small country, sourrounded by a beautiful countryside. It is 490 Km (304 miles) from Montevideo, the capital, and nowadays it has a population of 42.600 inhabitants.
The city was founded in 1832 as San Fructuoso; in 1912 it changed its name into Tacuarembo, which means "brook of the canes" in guarani.

Tacuarembo es una pequeña ciudad situada en medio de un pequeño país, rodeada de un hermoso paisaje campestre. Está situada a 490 Km de Montevideo, la capital, y actualmente tiene una población de 42.600 habitantes
