Tacuarembo is a small town situated in the middle of a small country, sourrounded by a beautiful countryside. It is 490 Km (304 miles) from Montevideo, the capital, and nowadays it has a population of 42.600 inhabitants.
The city was founded in 1832 as San Fructuoso; in 1912 it changed its name into Tacuarembo, which means "brook of the canes" in guarani.

now the truth is out.....Argentina take note. the Landscape of Uruguay has quite a number of womens nippels hehehe Andrea, super page, fossils and all, not to forget blue pens ^..^!
A very nice insight into this small part of Uruguay! The town does look very peaceful and the hike to the waterfall sounds interesting!

There aren't enough tranquil and safe towns like these around the world. It could be a real culture shock sometimes! I visited one town where the locals leave their keys in the car......and the car is still on while they shop!! Another great page here!
