The collection

Here you have some specimen of the MACN's collection:
Patagosaurus fariasi, a four-footed herbivorous who lived at Middle Jurassic (160 million years ago). The name means "lizard of Patagonia", because was found at Province of Chubut, Patagonia, by Dr. José Bonaparte of Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in 1979, at the property of Farias family.
The smaller specimen are Homo sapiens, biped omnivorous, who live nowadays everywhere.


Aqui ven algunos de los ejemplares exhibidos en el MACN:
Patagosaurus fariasi, un cuadrúpedo herbívoro que vivió en el Jurásico Medio (hace 160 millones de años). El nombre significa "lagarto de Patagonia", porque fue encontrado en la Provincia del Chubut, Patagonia, por el Dr. José Bonaparte de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán en 1979, en la propiedad de la familia Farías.
Los ejemplares de menor tamaño son Homo sapiens, omnívoros bípedos, que viven actualmente en todas partes.

MACN: the Building

The Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales was founded by Bernardino Rivadavia in 1812; the museum had different locations until 1937, when the present building was inaugurated.
The building is an awesome construction, decorated with elements of fauna and flora; the iron bars of the handrails shows snail shells; the main gates show bronze spiders' webs; the frontage shows bas-relieves with animals.
The picture shows one bas-relief with a tapir (Tapirus bairdii), one of the largest mammals of Central and South America in danger of extinction.


El Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales fue fundado por Bernardino Rivadavia en 1812; el museo se alojó en diferentes lugares hasta 1937, cunado el actual edificio fue inaugurado.
El edificio es una construcción imponente, decorado con elementos de la fauna y la flora; las rejas de hierro de las escaleras muestran caracolas marinas; las rejas de la puerta principal, telarañas de bronce; la fachada, bajorrelieves con animales.
La foto muestra un bajorrelieve con un tapir
(Tapirus bairdii), uno de los mamíferos más grandes de la fauna de América del Sur y Central, en vías de extinción.
