2007 Winter. Even though Tokyo Disneyland is a 30-min. direct shuttle bus ride away from our neighbourhood bus terminal in Kawasaki, we ended up letting ourselves get convinced of making a "whirlwind week-end" visit from Narita to Los Angeles Disneyland. The arguments for were numerous - a week after the American Thanksgiving Holidays hence off-peak travel crowds and costs, the American original version Disneyland would be so much more novel, etc. etc. Well, though the 9/10 hour flight was relatively uncrowded, the LA traffic jams and Disneyland park not so much. As we all now nurse colds (Does getting splashed on the "Splash Mountain" water jet coaster on a cold winter night sound fun? Certain children of a particular age and personality will be insanely entertained by this spectacle), I think we have reached an age where it's time to graduate from the days of whirlwind week-end getaways especially involving any significant change in time zones! |
