Stunning array of Shopping in Iran

You should definitely reserve spare room in your luggage to prepare for the staggering amounts of shopping available in Iran. Other products you will see are:

Foodstuffs: Various nuts, especially pistaschio, dates, teas, spices, dried rosebuds used for cooking, etc...

Iranian Handicrafts: Semi-precious stones and beads, "Garam Zani" engraved relief metalworks formed into plates, vases, tea sets, etc., Clay Pottery, and miniature detailed paintings, etc....

Fashions: Sometimes in or near bazaars, but mostly in posh modern shopping centres, you'll find nice designs and well-made Iranian-produced leather goods, shoes, and fashionable women's clothing, which would still look nice worn outside Iran. The prices are also quite attractive.

Speaking of womens' fashions...

...there is of course the internationally reknowned famous Iranian Islamic dress code based on national law as well as old traditions, to be followed by Iranian nationals as well as foreign visitors. It seems that the fashions change so quickly that it's better to start out somewhat on the conservative side upon entering Iran or a new city within Iran, and then take a cue from local women to adjust your mode of dress to your own fashion sense.

I found I had a lot of room to experiment for myself, and discovered for me, that actually, the dress code is not so bad after all. In fact, the hejab Islamic veil and manteaux long coats suits well my situation of minimising unwanted sun exposure behind my neck, ears, on forearms, etc. Still should bring high-octane sunblock if you want to protect face... and feet if you dare to wear bare-feet sandals ;-)

One thing is, the secret of success for summer wear is to choose the right materials - one pre-packed NANO-TEX manteaux which was purchased in my home country, and then additional purchases in Iran of pink cotton (random cheaper design, not as cool) and nice cocoa linen (very cool, with elegant design).

As for scarves for the head, any cool material or beautiful design seems to be fashionable and acceptable at least in the three cities I visited.

Lightly draping the scarf around head and neck seems to be fashionable, and nice-looking, but for me too slippery and I didn't like having to always keep consciousness of my head, but a lady I met introducted me to maghnaeh, a sort of a "hands free hejab" which was purchased at a ladies fashion shop.

Persia Design

Everyone may be fascinated by the persian beauty design.
I like the blue color of persia.
