2008 Mid-Winter. Taking advantage of the three-day holiday weekend, finally being able to realise a long held wish to travel by the sleeper train "Hokutosei" from Ueno, Tokyo to Sapporo and see the sculptures at the Sapporo Snow Festival. Alas, this party has now come to its end for this year, and in the weeks afterward the wreckers and dump trucks are likely to be in full swing, crushing up and removing all that which was built up (which is apparently done this way so as to prevent uncontrolled park flooding and accidents later during thaw season).

Choshi Japan, two hours east of Tokyo

2008 New Year's Holidays. Choshi, a small fishing town located on the northeasternmost tip of Chiba Prefecture is somewhat known for receiving the first sunrise of all of Japan hence a gathering place for travellers who wish be there at the dawn of the New Year.

Junichi and Rose have enjoyed travelling together for years, and glad to find this site - we'd made occasional mistakes in travel planning, such as choosing wrong hotels based on misleading adverts, etc.

So, once we found out about "word of mouth" travel information, such as Virtual Tourist, we've been more confident to make successful plans. Now, we'd like to try to give back by contributing our own experiences.

Thank you for stopping here and reading this. We do hope you find something helpful or informative to you.
