LIMA, FRENETIC PACE OF A GROWING CITY Based on what many tourists ask on their arrival in Lima I dare give some advice, Lima with numerous colonial buildings shows up before you as a city with a lot to offer, but of course like many other metropolies, lima has its own problems such as pollution, crime, traffic jam...it depends on u whether or not to have a great time here, by avoiding certain inconveniences you will, I'll tell you how, on your arrival at Jorge Chavez Airport, in case there's nobody waiting for you, get a cab you must know where you're going, I mean your hotel or room, don't try to figure it out right on the spot, inside the cab dont showcase your stuff, store them where they can't be seen from outside, otherwise this can be a tantalizing temptation for muggers, I recommend that you walk around lima downtown neither at night nor with suitcases, search for accomodation in the first place and store your stuff. Miraflores is one of the safest places, not the only one though. La Molina, San Borja San isidro, are safe as well, Combis are those little buses that take people to their destinations, fares are fixed at 1sol, 1 dollar =3.5soles, be careful when crossing roads only cross where there's a traffic light, the best Inter-city transport companies are: Ormeno, Cruz del Sur... If you have questions ask police officers but only those with white stripes, if people walk up to you offering help don't trust them , some people just want to rip tourists off, something else, your cameras, never flash them around just take a shot and put them away, especially in downtown Lima. be careful with food, some food may come bad to you avoid spicy food...I hope these lines will help you........ good luck travelers and don't forget to rate my tips... |
