Yeogwan-ing it in Andong and other Andong, South Korea Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

Being a yeogwan, it's spartan. Count on sleeping on mats on the floor. Still, it's clean and you'll hear a minimum of "Oppa! Oppa!" coming from the rooms next to you. All the rooms have bathrooms en suite. Decor is dull but lacking the more colorful decorationd common in yeogwans isn't necessarily a bad thing in my opinion ^^; . . .room rates are variable, but the woman at the desk once gave us a large room for 50,000 won to cram in as many people as we liked (it fit 6 easily). She does not, however, speak English.
This yeogwan is in downtown, less than five minutes walk from the bus station, train station, and main square.

Unique Qualities: It's a yeogwan, it's clean, and there are no pictures of naked women. One of very few places in Andong with parking.

Bando Motel is really more of a yeogwan, but hey, it's cheap. 30,000 won gets a clean(ish) room with TV, a/c, and en suite bathroom. Don't expect too much, but it's a decent place to crash for a few nights, especially if you're on a budget. There may be a small additional charge for the bedding (mats on the floor).

Unique Qualities: It is cheap.

Directions: about one street east of the food/culture street, and about two streets down from the info center.

This is a fairly typical western-style hotel. If you're neither desperate nor adventuresome enough for a yeogwan, and you don't mind spending alot more, this is the place to stay. It's really the only hotel in town, and comprable to a mid-range hotel in the states, with all the normal services. The staff's English is ok, and there's a western style coffee shop/restaurant attatched.

Unique Qualities: Well, it's the only western-style hotel in town . . .
