"Beautiful, but sometimes Busy.....BANFF" Banff National Park by windsorgirl
Banff National Park Travel Guide: 909 reviews and 1,522 photos
Banff became Canada's first National Park in 1887. It was the discovery of hot springs that attracted wealthy visitors and prompted the construction of railways and luxurious hotels to accomodate them.
Today even the budget minded can enjoy Banff's natural wonders by driving the beautiful Icefields Parkway and camping and hiking amongst these splendid mountains, clear lakes and lush forests. Over six million visitors a year descend upon Banff NP, usually during July and August. However, you can easily escape the crowds by heading out for a day of hiking in the mountains.
Banff is located only a 90 minute drive from Calgary and borders British Columbia to the west and Jasper National Park to the north.

Thanks! This is the first I've heard of the Cascade Gardens. Like your photo, too. Will have to check out the rest of your Can. Rockies. Going there in July 2008.
Just finished washing the drool off my lips. Thanks for sharing.
Somehow we missed Herbert Lake when we were in Lake Louise. What a beauty!! Hans & I should hike more, then perhaps we can see more special places like the falls at Johnston Canyon.
I have to give some thought to seeing more of North America. There is enough to see to last a lifetime...great pics..MSD
I almost got here many years ago. I really must, the lakes are spectacular and what great backdrops. I haven't heard of a pika. Great introduction and fabulous photos you took.
Hahaha, That Pika is too cute! :)) I'd love to see those falls at Johnston Canyon. Your photos are awesome. I should do some hiking myself to loose some weight. Great write-up here. Thanx for sharing it all.
Hi had the pleasure of travelling thru the Park 2 years ago, during Summer! What a sadly did not see any bears, apparently we have to go back now! Banff is very European....stayed at an Italian owned B & B superb! Tks.
An excellent page with beautiful photos and great tips! Was there briefly in 1982 but my wife and I are planning a return this September. Thanks for the hints!
WOW!!
I visited Banff many years ago and your pictures really brought me back. Great job. :)
