Lost In L.A.

by windsorgirl - last update: Apr 13, 2004

I spent a brief 4 days in Los Angeles on my way to Baja, Mexico. I was very lucky to stay with a friend of a friend, with a great apartment in a great location in downtown LA.

We did our own walking tours of the downtown and Hollywood. Drove through Beverly Hills, cycled at Venice Beach and hiked in the hills of Malibu and Hollywood.

No star sightings to report, apart from those at the tv taping we attended, but we did come across several film shoots in and around LA. Even though some were only for tv commercials, it is still oddly exciting to witness such an event.

I'll admit that a visit to LA wasn't high on my wish list, I tend to avoid cities in favour of more secluded, less touristy destinations. However, it turned out to be a great 4 days, and I wish I had had more time!

Being a fan of television and movies, it was exciting to see familiar landmarks. I also enjoyed the many photo opportunities.
LA reflections
Downtown LA was a pleasant surprise. It was very clean and felt very safe. There are many beautiful and interesting buildings, both modern and historic.

A very good Los Angeles page. I've been through the city a few times, but really haven't taken time to explore it - except to take a stroll up Olive Ave. Seeing the TV taping of Everybody Loves Raymond must have been interesting. Even I love Raymond.

LA has never been high on my list either and I know you are an 'outdoors' person, so I was interested to learn what your impressions were. Excellent job with lots of gems and things that look very interesting! But you did work one hike in!!

Nice job with my old hometown. Was at the Biltmore the night Bobbie was shot. Just a kid, but something I'll never forget.
