My visit to Peru was part of a 6 week trip to South America. I had already spent 2 weeks in the Galapagos Islands and then 2 weeks on mainland Ecuador. In Peru, I flew into Lima and then directly to Cusco. I spent 10 days here, including 4 days hiking the Inca Trail. Then I took a long bus to Puno and spent 2 days visiting the islands of Lake Titicaca.

Of course, the highlight of any trip to Peru must be the amazing Inca ruins. I suggest using a guide, they will impart a wealth of knowledge regarding the Inca people and their history in the area.

Wow Kathy, you really experienced the Andes up close with your Inca Trail walk!! Great photos of your Cusco adventures. I really liked the stone wall construction at Sacsayhuaman and also very interesting tip on the reed islands!!
