mountain views, Jasper NP - Province of Alberta

There is nothing like the Canadian Rockies! I have been lucky to have visited several mountain ranges around the world, like the Alps, the Andes and the Himalya. My favourite are the mountains in Alberta. I love how you can drive along the Icefields Parkway right thru the heart of these mountains. I also love that you can pull off the road, park your car and within an hour's walk, you can be enjoying a beautiful mountain vista all to yourself.

I have visited most of Canada and Alberta is definitely the most beautiful province in my opinion. And for someone who enjoys photography like me, the photo ops are endless!

These Alberta pages are a combination of two trips. One in 1993 and the latest in July of 2002.

In my most recent trip, I flew to Edmonton, then drove with family south to Waterton Lakes National Park, north to Fairmont Hot Springs, Lake Louise and Jasper before returning to Edmonton. This was a short 2 week visit.

In 1993, my visit to Alberta was part of a 3 month cross country road trip from Windsor to Vancouver Island. I drove north from Windsor to the Bruce Peninsula, taking the ferry across to Manitoulin Island then driving across northern Ontario over the top of Lake Superior. Manitoba passed quickly, I stopped in Saskatchewan to visit relatives before arriving on my brother's doorstep in Edmonton.

Here, a friend from Malta flew in to join me on a 3 week camping tour of the Rockies passing through Jasper, Banff, Calgary, and onto Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

My friend returned to Malta from Vancouver, and I stayed on to visit friends before the return trip to Edmonton, revisiting the National Parks and Icefields Parkway on my way. After a relaxing visit, I retraced my drive back to Windsor. It was a wonderful experience!

Awesome photo of Bow Lake and the others. Thanx for the bear warning! We usually pull the food basket up with a rope on a tree because the raccoons and other small animals like to snack too. Icefields Parkway must be a fascinating experience / drive.

Hi Kathy ,your pictures are fantastic ,the Bow lake pic & Mirror lake pic's are stunning with that reflection in the water . You think the bears would go for my Tim Horton cookies Kathy Well I'll just sing like I always do heheh Drop over anytime Kathy.

Outstanding photography! We REALLY want to drive the Icefields Parkway and do several of the hikes along the way. I've also always wanted to go to the Calgary Stampede. We will someday.
