I spent a week here prior to beginning my 3 week safari tour thru Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, ending in Johannesburg. There was plenty to see and do and I felt quite safe walking the streets alone, although I did not venture out alone at night. There are gorgeous beaches at Camp's Bay and Clifton Beach, a beautiful waterfront with live entertainment and an aquarium. You must also make a visit out to Robben Island and of course, up Table Mountain.
No matter where you are in the city, you can always see the mountains and usually the stunning coast line as well.
The landscape surrounding Cape Town is so beautiful that it is worth renting a car, or taking a tour to visit such places as St.James Beach, Gordon's Bay and Boulder Beach.

I can't believe that I had not viewed your Cape Town page before! Excellent photos of this very scenic spot and great tips too. Those colourful beach bath houses reminded me of La Boca district houses in Buenos Aires!

Colorful beach houses, botanical gardens, the waterfront and Table Top Mountain all look so inviting. Cape Town is high on my life-list of places to visit.
