Back in the 60's and 70's, Taejon was nothing as it is now with perhaps the exception of the downtown markets?
During the summer monsoons, the roads were so muddy, you'd lose your komoshin in the muck!
Men carried loads on their backs. Women used their heads!
The boy next door. I wonder what became of him?
I have heard these rice-stalk thatched roof mud walled homes are now preserved as "folk villages." Does that ever make me feel old! It wasn't that long ago... really!
My brother, sister and I in our village. As I understand it, a freeway now runs close by. In the old days, there were very, very few cars traveling the rocky, dirt roads. These rice paddy paths were more common.
- Pros:It was a great place to grow up in.
- Cons:I wouldn't recognize it today.
