Bring your tents: Camping on the dunes

You can camp in camping spots on the dunes and hear the ocean surf pounding the waves. Use only the spots provided by the park so you won't get in any trouble because certain parts of the dunes are protected. I camped here for a month back in the 80's and found a Spanish coin dated 1783 in very good condition, so you never know what may turn up, there have been many ship wrecks just off the coast. Not much shade if any so bring a tarp to put up for shade. The ponies roam free so make sure you DO NOT leave any food around, they will come into your site and cause damage, had a horse walk through our screened in porch for food and wreck the screen. This is a great place for backpackers!
