To me, Halifax is one of those cities that I have visited many times, yet still know little about. I've been to Halifax countless times and know my way around pretty well, but I still always feel like an outsider when I visit. It's not that people make you feel unwelcome... far from it; it's just that I've only really spent time in the central core of the city, and have not experienced much of the surrounding areas. |
My Halifax of 1989 I attended a small college in Nova Scotia (see my Lawrencetown Page for more info on that...) back in 1989. Every so often, we would escape the small, alcohol-free town of Lawrencetown and drive to Halifax for a little rest and relaxation. Not sure why we called it that, because it was usually not very restful or relaxing... We drank at the liquor-dome, attended concerts, ate at nice restaurants, and did all the stuff that people do in civilization. On Sunday, however, we would return to our dreary lives in Lawrencetown. |

| | More Recent Visits In the last 10 years, I've visited Halifax mostly for business trips, with a few pleasure trips thrown in just for fun. I stay downtown and usually drop in at the Casino and some of the local pubs. I always look forward to visiting Halifax. |

pieter_jan_v Sat May 17, 2008 20:08 UTC Rob, When you read this, realise you're the only Halifax tip grouper. I found some errors in the restaurant list (Jon Alan) and added more. Some businesses have closed or are moved. PJ | thezenith Wed Sep 12, 2007 02:29 UTC I've been twice to the Redwood Grill for diner. I received a nice welcoming. The staff is so kind and charming, the food is fresh and tasty. It is a quiet place to drink beer. Please try the Keith's Pale Ale from the local Alexander Keith's ..awesome! | beret Sun Oct 29, 2006 03:06 UTC Run away. Run away. Look back from a safe distance. | deecat Tue Mar 7, 2006 14:35 UTC Rob, these are fascinating pages with comprehensive information, lots of "tongue-in-cheek" humor, excellent photographs, and helpful, honest opinions. The restaurant and hotel tips are especially great. Thanks ever so much. |
